About IEMA

As this is an IEMA Approved programme, successful participants are encouraged to apply or IEMA registration at the appropriate level through the IEMA Scheme.

Institute Of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) was formed in September 1999, following the merger of the Institute of Environmental management, the Environmental Auditor's Registration Association, and Institute of environmental Assessment, the Institute is the leading UK membership organisation dedicated to the promotion of the goal of sustainable development and to the professional development of individuals involved in environmental management and assessment, whether they be in business, government, consultancy or the regulators.

IEMA SCHEME

There are currently five levels under the present scheme.

Environmental auditor levels -

  • Associate Environmental Auditor (10 IEMA points)
  • Environmental Auditor (30 EMA points)
  • Principal Environmental Auditor (50 IEMA points)

Environmental management system auditor levels -

  • Environmental Management System Auditor
  • Lead Environmental Management System Auditor

Individuals will be ble to register at two of five levels - one from the three environmental auditor levels and one from either of the two environmental management system auditor levels, depending on their level of experience. This will allow individuals to hold ‘dual registration’ - thus publicizing their specialist audit skills more clearly.
